Where are Julie Designs board bags made?

Our factory is in Ocean Beach, San Diego, and yes we do accept walk in orders!  Using only American made labor, Julie designs is one of the last companies that doesn't employ overseas factories. Because we make everything here, we are able to fulfill custom jersey or board bag orders in a shorter amount of time than other companies as well.

Was Julie Designs the first board bag company?

Though there may have been less successful start up companies in the 70's, Julie first began making board bags in LA in 1978. Though other board bag companies that still exist today started up just 2 to 3 years later, Julie was to distribute her bags in shops, the first shop being Kennedy Surfboards.

What is your sock fabric made of and how does it hold up?

Our stiksocks are made from recycled acrylic, which means we do not waste any excess materials in the process of creating our bags. In terms of durability, there are definitely some crusty 20 something year old board bags floating around in the surf world to this day.

My board doesn't have typical dimensions and I feel a custom bag would fit it better. How do I get a custom bag?

Getting a custom bag is simple and can be done by contacting Julie Designs by phone, fax or E-mail. Make sure to know your bags exact dimensions and to clarify the color of your choice. We will contact you if we have any other questions and tell you when to expect your bag!
